The Itinerary - 5 Days Mount Elgon Climbing
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Mount Elgon National Park
You arrive and transfer to Mount Elgon National Park. The journey offers scenic views of eastern Uganda’s landscapes. Upon arrival, you complete registration, receive a briefing and prepare for the hike.
Day 2: Trek to Sasa River Camp
You begin the hike through forest trails and local farmland. The trail gradually becomes steeper as you approach Sasa River Camp. Along the way, you spot birds and small wildlife.
Day 3: Hike to Mude Cave Camp
You continue hiking through bamboo and heath vegetation zones. The trail opens to stunning views of the caldera and surrounding plains. You reach Mude Cave Camp and rest.
Day 4: Summit Wagagai Peak and Return to Camp
You hike early to reach Wagagai Peak, the highest point of Mount Elgon. The summit offers breathtaking panoramic views before descending back to camp.
Day 5: Descend and Departure
You descend through scenic trails back to the starting point. The journey feels easier and more relaxed before transferring back to your next destination.
