Gorilla trekking is one of the most powerful wildlife experiences in East Africa. Turiken helps travelers plan transport to Bwindi, Mgahinga and Volcanoes National Park with the right 4x4 vehicle, timing and route support.
Choose Uganda or Rwanda
Uganda offers gorilla trekking in Bwindi and Mgahinga, often combined with Queen Elizabeth, Lake Bunyonyi and Kibale. Rwanda offers easier access from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park and is excellent for short luxury gorilla trips.
Permit planning
Gorilla permits should be planned early, especially during peak travel months. Your permit date should match accommodation location and transport timing because trekking starts early in the morning.
What to carry
- Waterproof hiking shoes and long trousers.
- Rain jacket, garden gloves and long-sleeved shirt.
- Small backpack, water, snacks and camera.
- Passport copy, permit confirmation and cash for porters.
Vehicle advice
A Land Cruiser Prado or Safari Land Cruiser is recommended for gorilla trekking routes. Roads can be steep, slippery and remote, especially in rainy seasons.
