Rwanda is widely known as a birders’ heaven and the best place in Africa for montane birding, with over 703 species. Birding in Nyungwe National Park

Nyungwe National Park is home to tropical montane rainforest and over 322 bird species. It’s located in the savannah region, covered by rolling grassland and a few broad-leaved and acacia woodlands. The common bird species include:- Red-faced Barbet, Sousa’s Shrike, White-collared Oliveback. The park has amazing views of wetlands and lakes along the course of the Akagera River and along its eastern boundary. Some of the sought-after species in the wetland areas are Carruthers ’ Cisticola, Papyrus Canary, Papyrus Gonolek, and the Shoebill.

Volcanoes National Park.

Birding begins with a morning briefing on how the trained guide will conduct the tour. The bamboo, grassland, Afro-alpine, and bushland vegetation attract many birds for habitation. Some of the birds include: African Green Broadbill, Lagden’s Bush-shrike, and Kivu Ground Thrush, and animals like African Elephant and Golden Cercopithecus mitis kandti, Hippo, Giraffe, among others.
